President
Alex C. Willingham is a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), in which he is board certified. He has served as the president and co-founder of Rehabilitation Professional Consultants, Inc. since the company’s inception in 1998.
Dr. Willingham began his medical practice in 1983 and has continued to practice medicine since that time and in the specialty area of PM&R since 1986. He has served as the medical director of Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital in San Antonio, Texas since 1988 and medical director of Mentis Neuro Rehabilitation in San Antonio, Texas since 2012. He is also president of South Texas PM&R Group in San Antonio.
Dr. Willingham is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, an appointment that he has held since 1988. He has also served as a program surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 1990, through which he has surveyed rehabilitation hospitals and facilities throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. He previously served for two years as the Chairman of the Rehabilitation Section Committee of the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Willingham has authored and coauthored articles and scientific papers concerning a variety of physical medicine and rehabilitation topics and life care planning. He is a frequent guest speaker and presenter for numerous health care educational symposiums for medical professionals and support groups for survivors of brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and amputations. Dr. Willingham is often featured in San Antonio radio programs such as “Ask the Doctor.” He has also been featured on CNN, ESPN, CBS, and other national and local television networks.
